Well, what do you know? Just 3 days after posting about how close Violet is to taking her first steps-SHE DOES IT! It was only 2 and then she sat down but it was something! Cristian and I are really proud of her. Also, funny story:
She has discovered the cupboards. I've had to tie a few together with plastic bags to keep her out of them but there are a few that I have made her own by putting some things in them. One of them goes really deep back into the rest of the counter and she discovered that she can crawl all the way into it.
a left the room for a moment and then heard her starting to cry a little bit. I walked around into the kitchen and she was stuck in the cupboard! She hasn't figured out how to go backwards yet and it the space was too small for her to turn around in. It was hilarious! Man, she makes me laugh. We sorted her out and then she did the exact same thing. Silly girl.
Yesterday I took her over to my parents house so that I could get some grocery shopping done, and work out. When I got out to the house later to pick her up we tried to get her to do some walking for Aunts. And she did it again! Of course it was only a couple of steps but AWESOME none the less :)
The last couple of days I've been doing a protein cleanse, trying to get my weight loss started again because I've kind of come to a halt and I'm not sure why. I still have PLENTY of fat to lose. All you do is eat just vegetables for 3 days. My body feels good. I had this plan to weight myself after the three days but it's that time of the month and I know I'm retaining a lot of water. I also came home last night to discover this enormous bag of home made caramels and big chocolate chip cookies hanging on our front door. I ended up giving half to my parents and encouraged Cristian to eat some, and then to take the rest to work for his coworkers. I really don't want to mess this up. I did eat some cookie and a few caramels but not enough to really undo my last couple of days and tonight I'm ending my cleanse with a detox bath :D
Pretty excited.
Today's my birthday and tonight while Talisa watches Violet, Cristian and I are going to go try out a new Mexican restaurant that opened up in town. Should be a good night :D

Violets Are Violet
This post is all about my baby girl. I realize I haven't really written much about what she's up to in the stage of her life, and I really don't want to look back and regret not taking down some memories. She really is the light of my life right now. Even on hard days. It gets to be evening and she's snuggled up under my arm for her last feeding and falls asleep on my chest and I have yet to experience anything more tender then it. I love her.
She's almost walking. She's so close to taking her first step. She does an amazing job of scooting around all the walls and reaching from one chair, to the table leg, to the next chair leg and it's really cute. She's conquered the stairs at my parents house several times and the way she does it amazes me. Instead of using her knees to get up, she stretches up her whole foot (basically doing the splits) and then pulls herself up on that leg with her two arms holding onto the following step. I can't believe she does it this way. She really is so strong. We haven't quite taught her how to go down the stairs, but we'll have to work on that more diligently because she's becoming hard to keep pace with these days. She has such a funny personality. The other day I realized none of my pairs of socks had matches. After looking around for a few minutes I discovered a stash underneath her crib! My little one has been smuggling little bits and pieces there and I think it's hilarious.
The other day we were all laying on our bed. She pulled up her daddy's shirt and discovered his belly button. Then I guess today while she was out at my parents house she was trying to find her grandma's belly button. Then Susanna's, then Talisa's. It was pretty funny. She still hasn't tried to find mine which I think is interesting, and when I tried to show her that she had her own she couldn't see it over the peak of her baby belly pudge. Soon though.. Soon.
She started throwing tantrums, Well, if you could call them that. The other day my mom tapped her very lightly on the head while adjusting herself on the couch and Violets topples over in the most dramatic way possible, proceeds to flail around on the floor whining for someone to pick her up. This went on for a good 10-15 minutes. When Talisa walked in she brightened up and smiled, and even chatted with her a little bit but refused to roll over and sit up on her own. I feel like it was a test. And yes, I passed. Eventually I think she grew tired of being on the floor and slowly made her way into her crawl position. We all had a really good laugh. She does this at home with me when no one else is around. I'll be up on my bed doing my make up or reading a book, looking at Pinterest, whatever.. and she'll crawl to the end of the bed and whine and whine. I tell her all she has to do is walk her little baby body over to wear I am at the other end of the bed and I'll grab her to come be on the bed with me. She fights it for awhile, but then eventually breaks down and makes her way over to me.
It's quite the adventure with her lately. Seems like she learns something new every day and I feel like time is slipping threw all the cracks. I've been trying to take her different places every day. Just put her in the stroller and walk around some store. I think one of her favorite places right now is Hobby Lobby. We stay in the wind chime area for a good amount of time... it's cute.
More later, I'm tired.

So Close
She is getting SO CLOSE to walking. I think in the next couple of weeks we'll see her trying to make her first couple of steps. It's a milestone, along with the fact that she is fully integrated into her new room. The night we decided to set everything up in the second bedroom was fun and exciting, but once it came time to put our sweet little one into her crib.... we both started to get sad. We were just used to her being in the room with us, but once in there I realized how nice it was to be able to go into my room, not worry about not being to turn on the light to find my early morning work out clothes in the dark, or worry about our bed creaking to much and her waking up to it, and simply just rolling over in bed or having some fun pillow talk with my husband.
Let's just say that we are both totally ok now with her being in there.
We were worried about her putting up a fight, we even bought our neighbors some earplugs in case it came to that kind of battle. But the last couple of nights she's dropped off to sleep and slept in there just fine. I'm so proud of her!
She's definitely growing up and already is developing a sense of humor.
The last couple of days I've been noticing my socks going missing out of my shoes. I couldn't figure it out, blamed myself for being forgetful, or Cristian for just scooping my things up with his until I went into her room the other night and found a stash underneath her crib. Yes, it's true, she's been smuggling them away right under her mothers nose :D
She's pretty great.
And so is Cristian. He's been so helpful with her the last couple of weeks and I love seeing him spend time with her. The other day we went and fed the ducks and I got a great picture of them together. We also went bowling and couldn't resist the moustache vending machine. She actually didn't mind that big furry blond stick-on facial hair and kept it on for quite some time. We went to the alley with Nana, Yani, and their daughter Tiana. Tiana is a few years older than Violet but then seemed to get along just fine. They kept touching each others hair, and holding hands and when Tiana would run around Violet would just stare at her. You can tell she's wanting to get up and run around to, but just hasn't quite figured that out yet. I'm ok with it. I'm beginning to realize that once she really starts running around I might be in for some trouble lol. I'm ready to stave that off for a little while longer.
I can't believe she turns 1 in a little under 2 months. Honestly, when I look at the big picture time has FLOWN by. The last couple of months have been amazing, and I hope the rest of the years goes by just as great. I'm loving everything about my life right now. I love my little girl and my amazing husband and I don't know where I would be, or what I'd be doing without them. Very content, hope you are too :D
