Real Talk// Healthy Resolutions

Oh man, this last month has been rough. No weight was lost this month (at least for me) so I'm still at an 8 lbs weight loss as of February, I haven't taken measurement, so on inches I have no idea either. And besides, I'm mostly doing this just based on how I feel physically and not so much worried about the scale or inches. Not too great, but all I can do is keep trying to move forward. I do however have some new incentive!!

We just planned out our honeymoon-we-never-got-to-have to Denver CO in August. We plan on hiking A TON on this holiday and I am seriously so excited. The altitude-from what I understand- will be killer, but all the more reason to really get some training in over the next 5 months.

I've been really tired. Beyond what is normal for me. For awhile I thought I was pregnant because with Violet all I did the first few months was sleep. And I'm not kidding. I would sleep about 12 hours, wake up for an hour to eat, shower, brush my teeth, the essentials and then would sleep for another 12 hours. I would fall asleep anywhere. I remember one time passing out on my parents kitchen floor for an entire afternoon. I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant so I can't really explain the fatigue. I'm wondering if I'm lacking in iron, it's the only thing I can think of (maybe allergies?) because with healthy eating, getting more sleep, and working out pretty regularly I shouldn't be this exhausted all the time. And feeling tired has been the main problem with my weight loss this last month, I've been lazy in my workouts, not pushing as hard as I should, and maybe not going as LONG as I should. The first 15-20 minutes of working out your body burns carbs and sugars, after that it starts to burn fat. So if my workout are only lasting 30 minutes I'm not pushing my body into the fat burning zone which is where I'll ultimately see results. Unless it's weight lifting, which helps your body burn fat more quickly so maybe I need to make my circuits with weights last a little longer.

Anyway, I feel like there have been a few set backs this last month but here are some positives:

1. I lost a little bit of definition in my legs with Violet. Guess what? It's back! I've got my calves back and the muscle separation in my thighs is finally showing through! I really love my legs, and it's nice having them look thick, strong, and toned again. I still have some work to do, but I am seeing a physical difference which is nice.
2. I think I need to buy a set of heavier weights, the ones I have now are getting too easy for me to workout with, need to be lifting heavier. And that tells me I'm getting stronger.
3. About a week ago I did incline training on the treadmills at the gym. 12% incline at 3mph for an entire hour, slowly but surely making my way up to 15% at 3mph which will help me burn SO much more fat. Getting there will also help me out on the hikes we plan on doing in Colorado.
4. We've been eating less meat. We love meat! But I think we've been eating too much, too often. And I just realized that perhaps that's the reason I've been feeling tired. Lots of iron in meat, and with a dramatic drop in meat maybe that's my problem......I'll have to research that, but also our grocery bill has gone down significantly!

Hopefully with August on the horizon we can keep pushing towards being more healthy with our lifestyle. Some things I'm planning on working on the next 4 weeks are incorporating more veggies into our meals, finding more ways to get iron into my diet specifically, drinking more water, making my weight training last closer to 45 min instead of a half hour, and getting to sleep (Cristian has been really good at this one) but I'm REALLY sucking at that lately.

Here's too a better month!
